A Saudi Arabian businessman pays €2.5 million for the most expensive ticket in football history to see Cristiano Ronaldo face Lionel Messi

A Sau­di busi­ness­man has paid €2.5 mil­lion for VIP tick­et to see Cris­tiano Ronal­do and Lionel Mes­si’s PSG match in Riyadh.

Ronal­do will cap­tain Sau­di Ara­bi­a’s All-Star team in Thurs­day’s friend­ly against PSG.

It will be his first appear­ance in the Mid­dle East since join­ing Al Nasr from Man­ches­ter United.

VIP tick­ets were sold for €250,000.

Real estate agent Mushar­raf bin Ahmed Al Gham­di even­tu­al­ly won the bid for €2.5 million.

Said to be the most expen­sive tick­et in foot­ball his­to­ry, you can meet Ronal­do, Mes­si, Ney­mar and Kylian Mbappe.

The VIP tick­ets are part of a fundrais­ing effort launched by Tur­ki Al-Sheikh, Direc­tor Gen­er­al of the Sau­di Ara­bi­an Gen­er­al Enter­tain­ment Authority.

And the pro­ceeds will be donat­ed to the Ehsan Sau­di char­i­ty fund.

beIN Sports has acquired broad­cast rights to the match across the Mid­dle East/North Africa, France, Turkey, Asia, North Amer­i­ca and Australasia.

PSG are cur­rent­ly tour­ing the Mid­dle East and are believed to have earned €10m from their activities.

They will face Sau­di Ara­bia All-Stars XI before fly­ing back to Paris on Friday.

Ronal­do will cap­tain his team in what could be his final encounter with rivals Mes­si on the pitch.

Al Hilal and Al Nasr play­ers will face the French champions.
