Manchester City and Real Madrid have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardior.
Chelsea have tried to sign Croatian star Gvardior, 20, over the summer.
However, efforts to move him to Stamford Bridge for €90m fell through as he signed a new contract at Leipzig.
Since his sensational debut at the FIFA World Cup last November-December, Gvardior’s prospects have continued to grow.
Gvardior was expected to be the defender of the tournament, but Croatia’s second straight finals run was lost to Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the semi-finals.
According to Fabrizio Romano, via wettfreunde, City and Real Madrid are interested in the highly rated defender.
However, the transfer is more likely in the summer than in early January.
Chelsea have been favorites for a long time as they made their bids in the final 24 hours of the summer transfer window.
“80 million euros + an additional payment of 10 million euros, a total of 90 million euros, signing the player until June 2023.
“Leipzig refused, decided to keep the player and extend his contract, so in the end nothing happened.
