Remember that terrifying “Jaws” opening scene? The one that made you swear off swimming in the ocean forever? Yep, the actress behind that iconic scream, Susan Backlinie, is sadly no more.

TMZ reports that Susan passed away at her California home on Saturday morning. Her cause of death is still unknown, but her husband, Harvey Swindall, is remembering her as the most incredible person he ever knew. We send our deepest condolences to Harvey during this difficult time.

While “Jaws” was her most famous role (and let’s be honest, the one that will live on in infamy forever), Susan was a talented actress and stuntwoman with a long career in Hollywood.

She got her start in 1975 with “Jaws” and went on to work on films like “The Great Muppet Caper” and “Day of the Animals.” She even reunited with Steven Spielberg to spoof her iconic scene in his movie “1941.” Talk about full circle!

But even with all those other credits, Susan will always be remembered as the woman who got chomped by a shark in “Jaws.” And hey, there are worse ways to be remembered, right? At least she left a lasting impression!

Susan was 77 years old. Rest in peace, Susan! You’ll be missed. ✌
