We lost a giant of film this weekend. Bernard Hill, the man behind iconic roles in LOTR and Titanic, passed away at 79.

Hill wasn’t new to the scene. He started slaying roles on British TV in the 70s before landing his breakout as the troubled Yosser Hughes in “Boys From The Blackstuff.”

But it was Hollywood that turned him into a legend. He captained the doomed Titanic for James Cameron and led Rohan’s charge as King Theoden in The Lord of the Rings.

Hill’s resume is epic — Clint Eastwood movies, period pieces, even an animated flick! His final appearance will be in the new season of Martin Freeman’s detective show, “The Responder.”

Rest in peace, Bernard. You’ll be sorely missed.
