Bayern Munich win daily blinds to cover Lucas Hernandez injury

Bayern Munich have signed veteran Dutch defender Daley Blind to replace the injured Lucas Hernandez on Tuesday.

Blind left Ajax Amsterdam by mutual consent last week and was a free agent with six months left on his contract. After a medical in Munich, he will arrive at Bundesliga champions Bayern on a short-term contract until the end of the season.

“We are delighted to have Daly join our team,” said Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić. “Daily” is a versatile defender. He has extensive international experience and leadership qualities. I’m sure he will help us. ”

The 32-year-old Blind, who can play either in the middle of defense or at left-back, was sidelined for several months after torn ligaments in his knee during France’s 4–1 win over Australia at the World Cup. It will cover the prospective Hernández player.

Blind played for Manchester United between 2014 and 2018, winning the FA Cup and Europa League, as well as seven Dutch titles during his two spells with Ajax. For the Dutch national team, he has made 99 appearances, including all five games at the Qatar World Cup.

Bayern have announced that Blind will travel with the team on Friday for their winter training camp in Doha, Qatar.

“I’m looking forward to playing here,” Blind told Bayern’s website. “A club like Bayern can win every trophy. This club’s hunger for titles was the key to my decision.
