While filming the second season of The Witcher, slated for release later this week, Henry Cavill suffered a serious injury. The actor, who enjoys doing his own stunts, has torn his hamstrings, which he believes could have had major ramifications for his career as an action star.

In a new interview with IGN, Cavill explains why the injury was so severe and the recovery process painful.

“It could have changed my acting career, sure,” Cavill says. “I wouldn’t do my own stunts anymore because of this.”

With roles like Superman and Geralt of Rivia, Cavill frequently performs in elaborate action sets. Witcher Season 2 alone features a plethora of monster battles, requiring Cavill to be at his best physical level.

Cavill thanks physiotherapist Freddie Murray for his successful recovery, saying he “groomed” him throughout the process. Murray was particularly helpful in navigating the often delicate process of balancing recovery with production needs.

“We did our best to stick to her rules of no more than five hours of standing per day, but unfortunately the production takes longer, so we had this very delicate balance of doing the right thing for my recovery and then doing. the thing that the production needed from me, ”says Cavill.

He continues, “Freddie was there just to keep an eye out, and to unplug if needed, or to help me with my physiotherapy every morning, we were there every morning before dawn doing hours of stuff. also on set, just to make sure that if the pain got too much, he would find a way to ease that pain or make sure we didn’t cause lasting damage. ”
