Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka apologized to his teammates at half-time during Saturday’s North London derby.
The Gunners beat rivals Tottenham 3–1 at the Emirates to take seven of their eight Premier League games.
However, Xhaka went to the dressing room to apologize in the 45th minute after the score was 1–1.
The incident in question occurred during build-up when Tottenham scored the equalizer from the penalty spot.
Shaka failed to clear the line before Gabriel beat Richarlison in the box.
Then Anthony Taylor gave the penalty and Harry Kane blew over Aaron Ramsdale.
According to The Mail, the players at halftime said Xaka took responsibility for the goal.
And in the second half, with Emerson Royal sent off and Spurs down to 10 men, he made up for the mistake and scored Arsenal’s third goal.
Xhaka has been stripped of his captaincy and is set to leave Arsenal in 2019.
Relations with Gunners fans did not go well, and it seemed that he was close to leaving.
However, he persevered at the club and is now an important part of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Arsenal are top of the Premier League with one point behind champions Manchester City.
Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday and Liverpool at home on Sunday.
