Rubén Neves has turned down bids from Manchester United and Liverpool and is awaiting a ‘dream’ move to Barcelona.
The 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder was linked with a move to Wolves after last season.
However, Bruno Laghe’s team defended the player despite a lot of interest.
Sport reports that Manchester United and Liverpool were two clubs that were considering neves.
Both were looking for midfield options over the summer.
Eric ten Hag has been looking for a replacement for the departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, and Jürgen Klopp has started looking towards the end of the window, plagued by injury concerns and a setback.
However, Neves is reportedly unwilling to negotiate with either club.
Because he knew Barcelona were interested in him.
Neves is willing to wait until 2023, although he cannot sign in the summer given the Catalan club’s financial situation.
Barça see the Portuguese as a ‘dream’ player to replace Sergio Busquets, who will move to Inter Miami at the end of the season.
Neves joined Wolves from Porto in 2017 for a then-record €18million move for a second-tier club.
From his first year he played every game and helped the Midlands team to promotion.
And in his four years in the Premier League, he was successful.
Since joining the Wolves, he has scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists in 220 appearances.
