FOOTBALL: There is a transfer clause to Real Madrid in Erling Haaland’s contract but Man City are already in talks to renegotiate it

Erling Haaland’s contract has a clause that allows him to move from Manchester City to Real Madrid in 2024.

The 22-year-old striker picked up his third straight hat-trick on Sunday as they defeated local rivals United 6–3.

The goal brings him to 17 goals in 10 appearances since joining from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

He arrived in Japan in June for €58 million and signed a five-year deal until 2027.

Despite heavy competition from clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona, the prospect of working for Pep Guardiola in the Premiership was irresistibly attractive to Harland.

However, according to Sunsports, a week after signing the deal, City were looking for stronger negotiations.

Previous reports had suggested that Manchester City hoped to move to Spain in the future.

And former Real Madrid player and former Málaga president Fernando Sanz argues that in 2024, the Whites will have the upper hand.

He told his MundoDeportivo: “The information I have is the exit clause of Haaland, in his second year, of curiosity. Very profitable conditions and his one club remaining, Compared to Real Madrid”.

“Haaland has a clause that allows him to leave after two years, but he prefers Real Madrid.

“Madrid will provide the necessary funds and acquire Haaland without consulting City.

Sanz insists the Bernabéu side would have priority to sign Haaland because of the exit clause.

And Alfie Haaland, who also started at City, suggested his son may be too early for a long stay in England.

Alfie said, “He (Erling) can go to Germany for two and a half years, England for two and a half years, then Spain, Italy and France?”

“I don’t know if it will happen, but I think he wants to try his hand at the big leagues.”
