Helicopter crashes into swimming pool at New Jersey water park, injuring four

Four peo­ple were injured when a heli­copter dec­o­ra­tion fell from the roof and into the pool below at a water park at the Amer­i­can Dream shop­ping cen­ter in New Jer­sey on Sun­day, offi­cials said.

Offi­cers were dis­patched to pick up a vis­i­tor “injured by a dec­o­ra­tive prop that fell from the ceil­ing” at the Dream­Works water park in East Ruther­ford short­ly after 3 p.m., New Jer­sey State Police said in a state­ment. bottom.

State police said they believed a dec­o­ra­tive heli­copter was sus­pend­ed from the ceil­ing and some­how detached before falling into the pool.

At least four peo­ple are said to have non-life-threat­en­ing injuries. One per­son was tak­en to a near­by hos­pi­tal for treat­ment, while the oth­er three were treat­ed at the scene with minor injuries, state police added.

“We are con­duct­ing a thor­ough inves­ti­ga­tion into this inci­dent to ensure that the park meets all required safe­ty stan­dards,” the Amer­i­can Dream Mall said in a statement.

“Guest safe­ty is our num­ber one pri­or­i­ty,” he said.

Out of respect for patient pri­va­cy, the mall said it could not pro­vide fur­ther information.
