Recently, there is a trend in Japan called “sushi terrorism”, and many people are outraged.

On social media, videos showing various unsanitary acts, such as licking the spoon of powdered green tea containers, are circulating.

In addition, a video that has been viewed more than 98 million times on Twitter shows a Sushiro branch licking the top of a soy sauce bottle and the rim of a tea bowl before putting it back on.

The company has replaced all soy sauce bottles at affected stores and cleaned all cups.

To combat this collective trend, one chain, Kura Sushi, said it would use artificial intelligence to look for “suspicious opening and closing of sushi plate lids,” Nikkei Asia reported.

In early March, we plan to upgrade the existing cameras we use to track and count the plates our customers take off the conveyor belt. Alert employees when suspicious activity is detected.
