Jürgen Klopp will be forced to endure ‘pure torture’ ahead of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid

Jürgen Klopp has revealed that he endured the “pure torture” of watching last season’s Champions League final against Real Madrid again.

But the Liverpool manager is hoping he can bring pain to Carlo Ancelotti’s men in the last 16 at Anfield on Tuesday.

Liverpool are seeking revenge for their 1–0 defeat in Paris in May, and Klopp is on the mend with back-to-back Premier League victories over Everton and Newcastle.

I didn’t see the final until the weekend.

And I quickly realized why I hadn’t returned it.

We played a good game and could have won.

“They scored the decisive goal and we didn’t score.

“Real Madrid don’t worry if other teams have chances, they don’t lose confidence. They know their chances will come. They are the team we should learn from.

“But we already have two wins. We feel it, we see it. It sets the mood a lot.”

Four weeks ago it would have been different, but life is timing. ”

“You have to play two big games to get through. You have to do your best to have a chance.”

“With Real Madrid, even if you don’t play your best, you have a chance.

“That’s what makes them special.”

Klopp expects an enthusiastic atmosphere at Anfield and knows the team need all the help they can get.

I am looking forward to the match at the Bernabéu.

“It’s tough going to the Bernabéu, but it doesn’t matter, it’s the Champions League.

One of the most important matches in the world.

“It’s going to be a great game and I’m happy to be playing now. I hope Anfield picks up the nerves. I’m a little excited to see how we’ve improved over the last two games. I’m very happy for the fans, let’s go together again.

Liverpool’s main injury concern is striker Darwin Nunez, who suffered a shoulder problem against Newcastle.

He has a late fitness test, but he trained on Monday.

“We’ll have to see how he handles the pain,” said Klopp.

Los Blancos will be without two key midfield stars, Aurelian Chuameni and Toni Kroos, due to illness.

Left-back Ferland Mendy has been out since last month with a thigh problem and has already been ruled out.

LaLiga champions Real Madrid beat 10th-placed Osasuna 2–0 with goals from Federico Valverde and Marco Asensio.

In addition to Luka Modric, Arsenal loaner Dani Ceballos and French star Eduardo Camavinga were appointed in the midfield.
