Jürgen Klopp will be forced to endure ‘pure torture’ ahead of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid

Jür­gen Klopp has revealed that he endured the “pure tor­ture” of watch­ing last sea­son’s Cham­pi­ons League final against Real Madrid again.

But the Liv­er­pool man­ag­er is hop­ing he can bring pain to Car­lo Ancelot­ti’s men in the last 16 at Anfield on Tuesday.

Liv­er­pool are seek­ing revenge for their 1–0 defeat in Paris in May, and Klopp is on the mend with back-to-back Pre­mier League vic­to­ries over Ever­ton and Newcastle.

I did­n’t see the final until the weekend.

And I quick­ly real­ized why I had­n’t returned it.

Klopp expects an enthu­si­as­tic atmos­phere at Anfield and knows the team need all the help they can get.

Liv­er­pool’s main injury con­cern is strik­er Dar­win Nunez, who suf­fered a shoul­der prob­lem against Newcastle.

“We’ll have to see how he han­dles the pain,” said Klopp.

Los Blan­cos will be with­out two key mid­field stars, Aure­lian Chua­meni and Toni Kroos, due to illness.
