Lionel Messi receives a menacing letter: Shock after his family’s shop is targeted in Argentina

Gunmen who attacked the family of the wife of Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi in Rosario, Argentina, left threatening messages for Messi, Rosario police confirmed Thursday.

Two men on motorbikes fired 14 shots at the shutter and front door of the Único grocery store in the Lavalle district of Rosario. No one was injured, but the store was damaged.

Police said the attacker also left a threatening message written on a piece of cardboard that read, “Messi, we are waiting for you.” Jabkin is a drug dealer. He won’t take care of you.”

An investigation is underway. Pablo Jabuquin is the mayor of Rosario, the largest city in Santa Fe Province, central Argentina, located 300km north of Buenos Aires.

After Thursday’s incident, Javkin told reporters about the rise in violence in Rosario and the lack of police and lack of protection.

Javkin’s concerns are not new. Earlier this week, he expressed frustration at the lack of protection and the need for more police in a city where crime is on the rise.

Rosario is close, at 300km (from Buenos Aires). I want us to use all the resources Argentina has against crime for us, to protect this city that gives the country glory and science, countryside and art, federalism and union.”

Messi, who led Argentina to the 2022 World Cup trophy and won the FIFA Best Male Player award on Monday, and his wife Antonella Rocuzzo, both from Rosario, have not commented on the incident.
