Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann has warned Manchester United that Marcel Sabitzer may not be ready for the club.
Manchester United confirmed Savitzer’s loan move shortly after midnight.
The Red Devils have signed Christian Eriksen, who has been sidelined for three months with an ankle injury.
An agreement was reached this afternoon with Bayern Munich, although there is no option or obligation to buy.
The 28-year-old Sabitzer had reached a personal agreement with United over a temporary transfer before he was spotted at Munich airport on Tuesday night ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford.
But Haman, who won the Champions League in 2005 and 49, said Sabitzer could struggle as an immediate force.
But with the deal on loan until the end of the season, Sabitzer has to get the job done.
“He’s a very energetic player, has a good engine and can score goals,” Haman told Sky Sports. “I think his best position is probably a little bit earlier.
I don’t think he’s a defensive midfielder or a holding midfielder. ”
“It’s quite a surprise that Chelsea and Manchester United are interested,” because I don’t see him helping out anytime soon.
“He’s a good team player, but I don’t know if he’s ready to go.”
Haman continued: “I think he’s a box-to-box guy and has a good engine.
However, Haman added that Sabitzer has the potential to be a “very good player” for the Red Devils.
Chelsea were also rumored to be interested in the Austrian, who joined Bayern from RB Leipzig a year and a half ago.
However, Haman insisted Sabitzer did not have the same ability as Conor Gallagher, who has been linked with Newcastle and Everton.
“I think (Sabitzer) would be a very good player for Manchester United, but at the same time I’m very surprised that Chelsea are thinking of getting rid of Conor Gallagher and signing Sabitzer.” Gallagher’s standards because they think they have not reached “It has said.
Savitzer has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season, but has only started seven in the Bundesliga.
