MUSIC: Migos rapper Takeoff reportedly shot dead in Houston

Accord­ing to US media, Migos rap­per Take­off has been shot dead in Houston.

The rap­per was killed Tues­day morn­ing at a bowl­ing alley while play­ing dice with his uncle and band mem­ber Qua­vo, police told Variety.

The star, whose real name is Kir­shinik Kali Bor, was 28 years old.

One of the most influ­en­tial groups of their gen­er­a­tion, the Migos pio­neered a chop­py triplet rap­ping style called the “Migos Flow”.

The band, which broke up ear­li­er this year, pro­duced a num­ber of glob­al hits, includ­ing “Bad and Bou­jee,” “Ver­sace,” and “Walk It Talk It.”

Around 02:30 local time (07:30 Japan time), there was a shoot­ing on the out­side bal­cony of 810 Bil­liards and Bowl­ing Alley in Houston.

Police said 40 to 50 guests were attend­ing a pri­vate par­ty at the venue when some­one opened fire. Secu­ri­ty guards in the area heard gun­shots, but did not see who fired.

When they arrived, there were a lot of peo­ple, and a man had been shot in the head or neck, he said. He was con­firmed dead at the scene.

Police said they are study­ing CCTV footage of the inci­dent and appeal­ing to the pub­lic for information.

Take­off pre­vi­ous­ly post­ed a pic­ture of him­self at the bowl­ing alley on Insta­gram. Images of the crime scene cir­cu­lat­ed on social media showed a sim­i­lar­ly dressed man lying down.

There are no con­firmed reports that Qua­vo was also injured in the inci­dent. Two oth­er vic­tims were tak­en to hos­pi­tal in pri­vate vehi­cles, police said.
