Last sumÂmer, NetÂflix launched a spaÂtial sound sysÂtem that requires no speÂcial equipÂment. After debutÂing the techÂnolÂoÂgy on sevÂerÂal titles, includÂing the fourth seaÂson of Stranger Things, NetÂflix is rolling out the techÂnolÂoÂgy to a wider range of titles.
HowÂevÂer, you need to be a preÂmiÂum memÂber to use it. AccordÂing to the comÂpaÂny, more than 700 highÂly ratÂed titles, includÂing âThe WatchÂer,â âWednesÂday,â and âGlass Onion: A Knives Out MysÂtery,â already have space audio available.
A Space Audio badge on a show or movie makes it clear whether the title supÂports that forÂmat. Also, if you search for âspace audioâ, a list of comÂpatÂiÂble titles will be disÂplayed. In the future, you will be able to watch more series and movies with space audio enabled, includÂing You, Your Place or Mine, Luther: The SetÂting Sun, and Tour de France.
NetÂflix has partÂnered with SennheisÂer to adopt 2ch spaÂtial audio techÂnolÂoÂgy âAmbeoâ. It is specifÂiÂcalÂly designed for inteÂgratÂed stereo speakÂers installed in lapÂtops and tablets.
NetÂflix says spaÂtial audio should work well on TVs that arenât too far from the viewÂer and on cell phones with stereo speakÂers. SpaÂtial audio will also proÂvide a more immerÂsive expeÂriÂence for those using headphones.
StartÂing today, preÂmiÂum memÂbers will be able to take advanÂtage of feaÂtures that are espeÂcialÂly useÂful for those who watch NetÂflix series and movies on the go and on mulÂtiÂple devices. You will be able to downÂload titles from 4 difÂferÂent devices to 6 difÂferÂent devices.
This gives ad-supÂportÂed memÂbers 6 more devices to downÂload shows and movies from.
