The news comes just hours after Stellenbosch’s 2–1 victory over Chippa United in the Eastern Cape.

Andries’ brother Lee Irwin has now commented on the stabbing that took place over the weekend.

“I was joking, and it annoyed the suspect,” IOL’s Brandon Nell told reporters.

“He stabbed his brother in the side many times.

“Yesterday her mother was taking him to the hospital and she died in her car, in her mother’s arms. She is very distraught.

“He was awesome…he knew what he was doing.
