Instagram users around the world are reporting issues with not being able to access their profiles.
The Meta-owned social network has said the matter is “investigating” and some people have been told they will be suspended from the platform.
Thousands of users have been affected, according to DownDetector, which monitors the outage.
Some people even got a message that their account was closed for 30 days.
In a tweet on Instagram’s official communication account, he wrote, “We are aware that some people are unable to access their Instagram account.
“We are investigating and we apologize for the inconvenience.”
The company has yet to provide details on the cause of the anomaly.
Some users who still have access to the platform are reporting a significant drop in follower counts as suspended accounts affected by this issue have disappeared from the site.
Last week, meta-messaging platform WhatsApp suffered an outage that took it out of service for about two hours.
