Ten Hag criticizes Manchester United’s mentality after losing to Arsenal

Eric Ten Hag has accused Manchester United players of not having the right mentality to win trophies.

After conceding in the 90th minute and losing 3–2 to Arsenal, the enraged manager lashed out at his team in the dressing room.

“I am angry and I tell my players that if they want to win titles and medals, they have to change their mentality,” Ten Hag said.

Even though it was an important match, I made a mistake. ”

We started the game very well, scored and won, but then we made a lot of mistakes and it’s really unacceptable.

“It’s about feeling the game and recognizing that you can only score one point at that point, and take that one point.

“Don’t give goals like us or you won’t win trophies.

“We have already seen how the mentality of the players has changed in the last two months.

“They have to understand that the match is over only when the referee blows the whistle.”

In the 71st minute, Tenhag seemed satisfied with the tie when midfielder Fred was brought in for Anthony.

“I think it was the best set-up to win this match,” said the Dutchman.

“Press” worked. I expected Arsenal to press a little differently and could have read the game a little earlier. ”

United now have to focus on Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest before facing Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday.

“The players have to prepare for a big week,” added Tenhag.

Defender Luke Shaw has admitted that United are only blaming themselves.

“In the second half, maybe we deserved it,” he said.

“We got a little passive and they controlled the game. It’s a terrible story to concede a goal at the last minute.

We knew they were a very good team, so we fought until the last second. ”

“In a game like this, you have to be focused the whole game.

“Everyone in the dressing room is shocked that we conceded so late.
