A Florida beachfront hotel guest has died after being run over by a forklift during storm repairs, officials said.
The 62-year-old woman, whose name was not immediately released, said she was beaten while walking in the parking lot of the Beach Haven Inn on Monday, said Daytona Beach Shores public safety director Michael.
The hotel faces the Atlantic Ocean and was damaged by Tropical Storm Ian in September.
A forklift was carrying roofing material for storm repairs, and the driver didn’t appear to have seen the woman before running over, Fowler said. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, but authorities announced she died shortly after.
Police are investigating and have notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
