U.S. : Florida hotel guest dies after being run over by forklift during storm repairs

A FloriĀ­da beachĀ­front hotel guest has died after being run over by a forkĀ­lift durĀ­ing storm repairs, offiĀ­cials said.

The 62-year-old woman, whose name was not immeĀ­diĀ­ateĀ­ly released, said she was beatĀ­en while walkĀ­ing in the parkĀ­ing lot of the Beach Haven Inn on MonĀ­day, said DayĀ­tona Beach Shores pubĀ­lic safeĀ­ty direcĀ­tor Michael. 

The hotel faces the Atlantic Ocean and was damĀ­aged by TropĀ­iĀ­cal Storm Ian in September.

A forkĀ­lift was carĀ­ryĀ­ing roofĀ­ing mateĀ­rĀ­iĀ­al for storm repairs, and the driĀ­ver didĀ­nā€™t appear to have seen the woman before runĀ­ning over, Fowler said. The woman was takĀ­en to a nearĀ­by hosĀ­piĀ­tal, but authorĀ­iĀ­ties announced she died shortĀ­ly after.

Police are invesĀ­tiĀ­gatĀ­ing and have notiĀ­fied the OccuĀ­paĀ­tionĀ­al SafeĀ­ty and Health Administration.
