Two soldiers were injured after a military helicopter overturned in Talkeetna, Alaska, officials said Monday.

The US military said in a statement that the soldier had been taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

An Army AH-64D Apache helicopter was damaged in a crash during takeoff on Sunday. A decision on whether the helicopter can be lifted will be made this weekend, spokesman John Pennell said in an email.

Other details of the crash were not immediately known, but Pennell said a post-crash investigation by the Army Combat Readiness Center would shed light on the cause. The investigative team is expected to arrive this weekend.

The Apache was one of four helicopters from the 25th Attack Battalion at Fort Wainwright near Fairbanks heading for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage for training. The four helicopters stopped at Talkeetna to refuel.

Talkeetna is about 110 kilometers north of Anchorage.
