U.S. : Omaha police shoot guns at Target store

A man with an AR-15-style rifle and more than a dozen ammo racks opened fire at a Tar­get store in Oma­ha, send­ing buy­ers and employ­ees fight­ing for safe­ty to safe­ty before police killed him, offi­cials said. It is said that No injuries have been reported.

Oma­ha Police Chief Todd Schmader­er said the uniden­ti­fied white man, in his 30s, fired mul­ti­ple shots as he entered the store, but it was unclear if he shot anyone.

Employ­ee Lau­ren Mur­phy was in the store’s bath­room, hav­ing just start­ed her break after hear­ing gun­shots. She got a mes­sage telling her to run or stay still – so she lift­ed her feet off the floor and start­ed tex­ting her fam­i­ly and friends say­ing she loved them. . A child beside him was crying.

“I was afraid to die like that at work,” said Mur­phy, 21.

“I grabbed the side of the toi­let and lift­ed her leg off the floor so she was invis­i­ble,” he added.

Anoth­er 21-year-old employ­ee, Samuel Jacob­sen, was fill­ing out a per­son­al order form when he first heard the shoot­ing. How­ev­er, not know­ing the sound well, he con­tin­ued with his work.

“Then a col­league of his ran in and said, ‘He’s got a gun, come out!’ ” Jacob­sen said. “This is real,” he said. I have to go out I have to go out I have to go out .’ “
He hid behind the store and sent an email to his col­league to make sure he was okay.
