A man with an AR-15-style rifle and more than a dozen ammo racks opened fire at a Target store in Omaha, sending buyers and employees fighting for safety to safety before police killed him, officials said. It is said that No injuries have been reported.
Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said the unidentified white man, in his 30s, fired multiple shots as he entered the store, but it was unclear if he shot anyone.
Employee Lauren Murphy was in the store’s bathroom, having just started her break after hearing gunshots. She got a message telling her to run or stay still – so she lifted her feet off the floor and started texting her family and friends saying she loved them. . A child beside him was crying.
“I was afraid to die like that at work,” said Murphy, 21.
“I grabbed the side of the toilet and lifted her leg off the floor so she was invisible,” he added.
Another 21-year-old employee, Samuel Jacobsen, was filling out a personal order form when he first heard the shooting. However, not knowing the sound well, he continued with his work.
“Then a colleague of his ran in and said, ‘He’s got a gun, come out!’ ” Jacobsen said. “This is real,” he said. I have to go out I have to go out I have to go out .’ “
He hid behind the store and sent an email to his colleague to make sure he was okay.
