
A family of eight, including five children, was found shot dead in a rural home in Enoch, Utah.
A body was found Wednesday during a police welfare inspection on the property, about 394km south of Salt Lake City.
The motive for the killing is unknown and police have not released any details about the deceased.
Mayor Rob Dotson said he was shocked by the city of about 8,000 people.
“Right now, the area is hurting.” According to CBS, Dotson said, “They feel the loss, they feel the pain and they have a lot of questions.
He added that the family is well known in town and police will be providing more information as the investigation progresses.
All five children attended school in the Iron County School District, according to local media.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox tweeted his condolences to those affected by the “senseless violence.”
