Utah shooting: Eight family members found dead in home

A fam­i­ly of eight, includ­ing five chil­dren, was found shot dead in a rur­al home in Enoch, Utah.

A body was found Wednes­day dur­ing a police wel­fare inspec­tion on the prop­er­ty, about 394km south of Salt Lake City.

The motive for the killing is unknown and police have not released any details about the deceased.

May­or Rob Dot­son said he was shocked by the city of about 8,000 people.

“Right now, the area is hurt­ing.” Accord­ing to CBS, Dot­son said, “They feel the loss, they feel the pain and they have a lot of questions.

He added that the fam­i­ly is well known in town and police will be pro­vid­ing more infor­ma­tion as the inves­ti­ga­tion progresses.

All five chil­dren attend­ed school in the Iron Coun­ty School Dis­trict, accord­ing to local media.

Utah Gov­er­nor Spencer Cox tweet­ed his con­do­lences to those affect­ed by the “sense­less violence.”
