Edouard Mendy of Chelsea tells “the best anecdote of the season” involving N’Golo Kanté.
Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy disclosed teammate N’Golo Kante’s astonishing prediction ahead of Chelsea’s run to their second Champions League triumph
Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy told “the best anecdote” of the club’s rise to the Champions League title last season.
The Blues beat Manchester City in the final in May to be crowned European champions for the second time in their history thanks to the winner of Kai Havertz.
Mendy played his part in the win by keeping his clean sheet clean, although he was largely untested by a City side who only managed one shot on target.
This was largely due to the indomitable Kante’s presence in midfield, the Frenchman being crowned man of the match for his tireless performance.
Chelsea entered the 2020/21 season as an underdog to lift the Champions League trophy but, remarkably, Kante predicted they would go all the way before their first group stage game. That’s according to Mendy, who recalled his conversation with the 30-year-old as they traveled to Stamford Bridge to host Sevilla in October 2020.
