HARRY KANE wants assurances that Antonio Conte will be supported in the transfer market before committing his future to Tottenham.
The 28-year-old English skipper will decide at the end of this season whether to stay after trying to leave last summer in pursuit of trophies.
He is now happier and more open to the prospect of staying at his boyhood club following Conte’s arrival in November.
Kane believes serial winner Conte can help Spurs end a 14-year trophy drought.
But he will expect chairman Daniel Levy to ensure they intend to bring in the quality new signings Conte wants before deciding his own future.
If Kane thinks the club aren’t ready to back his boss, the leader will likely try to walk away again.
The Tottenham talisman had told Levy he wanted to leave with the aim of winning titles — with Manchester City his dream destination.
Etihad chiefs were ready to double his salary to 480,000 euros per week.
But the summer move didn’t happen when Levy refused to accept less than £191m for his star player — who is under contract until 2024.
Earlier this month he said he enjoyed working under Italian mainstay Conte and had never felt in better shape, suggesting he was considering staying at Spurs.
Kane certainly looks sharper and plays again with a smile on his face.
But he never hid his desire to win trophies and titles.
And if Tottenham don’t match his and the manager’s ambitions, then the star will almost certainly look to move elsewhere.
Despite just five of Kane’s 21 goals for club and country this coming term in the Prem, there would be no shortage of offers for him.
Manchester United have always been keen to bring him to Old Trafford.
And that interest would increase if his former Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino, currently manager of Paris Saint-Germain, were to take over at the Red Devils this summer.
