SPORT: Football
Arsenal already have three more red cards than goals in 2022.

THOMAS PARTEY’s sending off in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Liverpool was a THIRD red card for the Gunners this year — against ONE goal.

Partey received a second yellow card just three minutes after his first, as Diogo Jota’s brace ended Arsenal’s pursuit of silverware for the 2021–22 season.

Partey’s sacking was a third in 20 days for Arsenal

Xhaka was sent off in the first leg against Liverpool last week.

Gabriel was sent to take an early shower on New Years Day, which marked the start of a miserable 2022 so far.
This means Arsenal have now received three times as many red cards as they scored in 2022.

The stat is grim for Gunners fans, with Bukayo Saka’s goal in the game against Manchester City on New Year’s Day the only time Mikel Arteta’s side have found the back of the net this calendar year.

Gabriel was sent off for two avoidable fouls in that same game, before Granit Xhaka’s moment of madness at Anfield last week.

The Swiss midfielder was shown a straight red card for a reckless waist move on Jota.

And Partey’s sacking tonight completes an unruly start to 2022 for Arteta and his men.
