Neymar’s representatives have strongly denied reports that the Brazilian star wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Neymar da Silva Santos, who is also Neymar’s agent and father, said there is “no truth” to claims that his son has asked to leave PSG due to fan discontent.
French newspaper L’Equipe reported that Neymar had informed PSG of his desire to leave the club, but Neymar Sr. called this “fake news”.
“I cannot confirm a news that has not happened, L’Equipe is L’EFake,” he said.
The reports suggested Neymar was unhappy with how PSG fans had demonstrated against him in May after the Champions League exit.
However, Neymar’s camp claimed the story was unfounded and suggested there could be ulterior motives behind leaking the rumor.
PSG are yet to respond officially but are also expected to deny Neymar’s imminent exit. Club officials remain confident that Neymar wants to stay and help the team achieve their goals.
Neymar still has three years left on his PSG contract and the club have no intention of selling him this summer. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi also recently said that “nobody forced” Neymar to sign with the club.
Neymar’s representatives say the player is focused on preparing for the new season and helping PSG win trophies, not seeking a transfer away from the French capital.
