Award-winning Swedish rapper C.Gambino, real name Karar Ramadan, was tragically shot dead in a Gothenburg car park on Tuesday night. The 26-year-old rising star, a recent Grammy award winner, was one of Sweden’s biggest hip hop acts.

Police believe the attack was gang-related and are investigating. C.Gambino was known to them, and the killing is suspected to be linked to gang conflict. Graphic evidence from the scene shows the severity of the attack. Despite medical attention, C.Gambino succumbed to his injuries.

A chart-topping artist with millions of monthly Spotify listeners, C.Gambino’s latest track, “Sista Gang,” was released just days before his death. The Swedish hip hop community is devastated by the loss. Renowned rap expert Petter Hallen called C.Gambino “one of Sweden’s greatest” and said his death is a major blow to the scene.

This follows the 2021 murder of another prominent Swedish rapper, EinĂĄr, who was just 19 when he was shot in an execution-style attack.

Sweden has seen a surge in gang violence in recent years, with shootings and bombings becoming increasingly common. The violence is believed to be rooted in the drug trade but has grown to encompass other conflicts.

The investigation into C.Gambino’s murder is ongoing. Police urge anyone with information to come forward to help bring the perpetrators to justice.
