Justin Timberlake, the 43-year-old Grammy-winning singer, broke his silence regarding his recent DWI arrest in the Hamptons during a concert in Chicago on his “Forget Tomorrow” world tour.

The “Cry Me a River” crooner told the United Center crowd, “It’s been a tough week,” acknowledging the incident for the first time publicly. Timberlake had previously only apologized to his behind-the-scenes tour crew.

The pop star was arrested in the Hamptons earlier this week after allegedly running a stop sign and failing field sobriety tests. Timberlake told police he had just one drink but refused a breathalyzer test three times. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and cited for the traffic violations.

Despite the legal troubles, Timberlake received cheers from the supportive Chicago audience as he continued, “I know I’m hard to love sometimes but you keep loving me right back.”

The former NSYNC member is set to perform two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 25 and 26, continuing his tour in the wake of the DWI incident.
