Katy Perry’s Revealing Album Announcement

Katy Perry appeared topless in a new image shared on social media, announcing the title and release date for her upcoming album. The Santa Barbara-born singer revealed that the album, titled “143,” will be released on September 20, just before her 40th birthday on October 25.

A Bold, Exuberant Dance-Pop Album

“I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message,” said Perry in a statement. The “143” title is a code for “I love you” that was often used in the early 1990s in pager messages.

Katy’s Empowered Visual Aesthetic

Perry has been presenting a sexier image and a leaner figure with this new album. The topless album cover image shows the pop star wearing a shiny clear acrylic tank top over her chest, along with a see-through iridescent skirt. Her long black hair frames her face, which is beautifully made up with long lashes and a mauve lip.

Controversial Collaboration with Dr. Luke

The album’s lead single “Woman’s World” was produced by Dr. Luke, who Kesha famously accused of sexual assault a decade ago. This has prompted some backlash from fans who question how Perry can reconnect with the songwriter to promote female empowerment. However, Perry is not bothered by the controversy, stating that her relationship with Dr. Luke is an important one and they work well together.
