
Legendary musician Jimmy Buffet, known for hit song “Margaritaville,” has passed away at 76.
Buffet died peacefully with family near after living fully until the end. His new album was set for late 2022 release.
The Mississippi native developed a love of music from his theater-loving mother. With history degrees, he wrote and fished but broke out in 1977 with “Margaritaville.”
This sunny song launched a business empire including resorts, drinks and clothes. Over 30 albums followed devoted “Parrotheads.”
Despite primarily a live draw, Buffet scored country number ones including a Zac Brown duet. Forbes called him a billionaire for touring profits and a $50 million catalog.
The talented pilot survived a 1994 plane crash and 2011 stage fall, recovering each time. He also founded a nonprofit to protect marine animals.
Buffett constantly performed for fans he called “Parrotheads” until health issues in May 2022. Now the legendary artist and family man is mourned by many worldwide.
