Selena Gomez announced she would stop using social media due to the increasing horror, hate and violence seen online.
The 31-year-old singer revealed on Instagram that her “heart breaks” seeing the state of the world. She said that violence against any group is “horrific,” and “ALL people” need protecting, especially children.
Gomez added that violence must end for good. Having a sister made her more aware of life’s negative aspects, and she would do anything to help innocent lives.
Gomez has used her own mental health struggles, including a bipolar diagnosis in 2020, to aid others. At an event for her Rare Impact Fund, she discussed seeking knowledge and support to find joy again.
Now proud and working hard daily, Gomez says she’s happy to be alive. Spotted at an LA Lakers game, the relaxed star smiled while watching the close victory, joined by stars like Machine Gun Kelly.
Gomez’s break highlights growing concerns over social media’s impact on well-being.
