Selena Gomez Takes Break From Social Media Due to Rising Violence

Sele­na Gomez announced she would stop using social media due to the increas­ing hor­ror, hate and vio­lence seen online. 

The 31-year-old singer revealed on Insta­gram that her “heart breaks” see­ing the state of the world. She said that vio­lence against any group is “hor­rif­ic,” and “ALL peo­ple” need pro­tect­ing, espe­cial­ly children. 

Gomez added that vio­lence must end for good. Hav­ing a sis­ter made her more aware of life’s neg­a­tive aspects, and she would do any­thing to help inno­cent lives.

Gomez has used her own men­tal health strug­gles, includ­ing a bipo­lar diag­no­sis in 2020, to aid oth­ers. At an event for her Rare Impact Fund, she dis­cussed seek­ing knowl­edge and sup­port to find joy again. 

Now proud and work­ing hard dai­ly, Gomez says she’s hap­py to be alive. Spot­ted at an LA Lak­ers game, the relaxed star smiled while watch­ing the close vic­to­ry, joined by stars like Machine Gun Kelly.
