29-year-old influencer dies after knee liposuction

A Brazil­ian influ­encer has trag­i­cal­ly died after under­go­ing lipo­suc­tion on her knees.

Lua­na Andrade, 29, suf­fered four car­diac arrests after under­go­ing surgery in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Her lipo­suc­tion was per­formed by Andrade’s pri­vate physi­cian and anes­thetist hired by her family.

Dr. Diobane Luaro, a plas­tic sur­geon and pres­i­dent of the Brazil­ian Soci­ety of Plas­tic Sur­geons, has giv­en inter­views to local media since the news of his trag­ic death broke.

Accord­ing to him, Andrade appeared to be in good health before under­go­ing surgery.

The oper­a­tion was halt­ed and the patient under­went tests, which revealed a mas­sive thrombosis.

“She was trans­ferred to the ICU and giv­en med­ica­tion and hemo­dy­nam­ic treatment.

The cause of her influen­za­’s death was list­ed as pul­monary embolism due to com­pli­ca­tions dur­ing surgery.

A pul­monary embolism is a sud­den block­age of the pul­monary artery, the blood ves­sel that sup­plies blood to the lungs.

“There is no surgery with­out risks, and espe­cial­ly sur­gi­cal pro­ce­dures, there is no med­ical pro­ce­dure that does not involve some risks,” Dr. Eduar­do Teix­eira of the Brazil­ian Uni­ver­si­ty of Plas­tic Surgery told local media.
