Dr. Michael Mosley, a renowned British television presenter, author, and health expert, was tragically found dead on the Greek island of Symi on Sunday. The news comes after a days-long search effort following his disappearance on Wednesday afternoon.

Mosley, 67, was well-known for his informative TV appearances, radio shows, and newspaper columns. He was a leading figure in health and wellness, particularly known for authoring the best-selling book “The Fast Diet” (2013), which introduced the popular 5:2 diet concept.

His wife, Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley, confirmed that Mosley took a wrong turn while hiking and collapsed in a remote area, making it difficult to locate him. She described him as an “adventurous spirit” and expressed the family’s deep grief.

Mosley’s dedication to science communication earned him widespread respect. Tributes poured in from colleagues like Dr. Saleyha Ahsan, who commended his ability to make science accessible, and former politician Tom Watson, who credited Mosley’s diet book for his weight loss. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver also acknowledged Mosley’s significant contribution to public health education through his research and TV shows.

Local authorities spotted Mosley’s body on Sunday morning from a boat near Agia Marina beach on Symi. The body is being retrieved and transported to the nearby island of Rhodes for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
