Two indi¬≠vid¬≠u¬≠als were injured by gun¬≠fire dur¬≠ing a par¬≠ty at Livo¬≠nia Park in Brook¬≠lyn‚Äôs Brownsville neigh¬≠bor¬≠hood on Sat¬≠ur¬≠day night. This inci¬≠dent was one of sev¬≠er¬≠al shoot¬≠ings that marred a par¬≠tic¬≠u¬≠lar¬≠ly vio¬≠lent 24 hours in New York City.

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the shooting occurred around 10:30 PM. A 53-year-old woman sustained two gunshot wounds to her torso and one to her right leg. A 70-year-old man was also struck once in his left leg. Thankfully, both victims were transported to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition.

The NYPD has questioned several individuals, but no arrests have been made. The investigation into the Livonia Park shooting remains ongoing.

Sadly, the Brownsville shooting was just one in a string of violent incidents across New York City on Saturday. Other events included a self-inflicted gunshot wound by a 17-year-old boy, a separate shooting of a 43-year-old man in the Bronx, and gunfire that injured two people at the Grant Houses in Manhattan.

This surge in gun vio¬≠lence under¬≠scores the ongo¬≠ing bat¬≠tle against gun crime plagu¬≠ing New York City and many urban areas nationwide.

Authorities are actively pursuing the apprehension of suspects and a motive for these attacks. Additionally, efforts are underway to address the root causes of such violence.

The NYPD has pledged to provide updates on the investigations into these shootings as they develop. The safety and well-being of New York City residents remains a top priority for law enforcement and city officials.
