Bush Declines to Endorse 2024 Candidates
ForÂmer PresÂiÂdent George W. Bush has statÂed that he will not be makÂing a pubÂlic endorseÂment in the 2024 presÂiÂdenÂtial election.
This deciÂsion comes after his forÂmer Vice PresÂiÂdent, Dick Cheney, caused shockÂwaves by revealÂing he plans to cross parÂty lines and vote for Kamala Harris.
Cheney Backs Harris, Criticizes Trump
Cheney, who served as Bushâs VP for two terms, said he believes DonÂald Trump âis a greater threat to our repubÂlic than any indiÂvidÂual Iâve encounÂtered in my lifetime.â
He added that he will be castÂing his vote for Vice PresÂiÂdent Kamala HarÂris, describÂing it as a matÂter of putting âcounÂtry above partisanship.â
Bush Maintains Distance from Politics
Bushâs spokesman statÂed that the forÂmer presÂiÂdent has âretired from presÂiÂdenÂtial polÂiÂtics many years agoâ and has no plans to make a pubÂlic endorsement.
NeiÂther Bush nor his wife LauÂra will be revealÂing who they plan to vote for in the upcomÂing election.
Divided Republican Party
The deciÂsion by both the Cheneys to back the DemoÂcÂraÂtÂic canÂdiÂdate has furÂther highÂlightÂed the diviÂsions withÂin the RepubÂliÂcan party.
