Cards Against Humanity’s Land Dispute
The crude party game company Cards Against Humanity is taking Elon Musk’s SpaceX to court, filing a $15 million lawsuit in Texas over alleged trespassing and destruction of their purchased land on the Texas-Mexico border.
Allegations of Trespass and Destruction
According to the lawsuit, Cards Against Humanity purchased the “pristine” plot of land in 2017 through a crowdfunding campaign.
However, the company claims that over the past six months, SpaceX and its contractors have cleared the land, using it as a staging area for the aerospace firm’s nearby Starbase construction projects.
SpaceX’s Expanding Footprint
The lawsuit alleges that as SpaceX has expanded its operations in the area, the company has neglected the “no trespassing” signs on the Cards Against Humanity property, and has been using the land for its own purposes without permission.
Damage to Relationship with Supporters
The game company argues that SpaceX’s alleged abuse of the land has not only destroyed its natural condition but has also damaged Cards Against Humanity’s relationship with the thousands of supporters who crowdfunded the land’s purchase.
Locals Blast Musk’s Development
This lawsuit is the latest in a series of complaints from neighboring residents about the rapid development around Starbase, with locals previously blasting Elon Musk for “destroying” the area.
Environmental Concerns
Additionally, SpaceX has been accused of violating environmental regulations at the Starbase site by repeatedly releasing pollutants into or near bodies of water in Texas, according to the state’s environmental agency.
