Concertgoers at the historic Flying Monkey in Plymouth, NH had a night to remember, but not for the music! A fire erupted next door Saturday night, forcing a mass evacuation of the 450 people rocking out inside.

Thankfully, everyone got out safely, but firefighters battled the blaze for hours to keep it from engulfing the beloved venue. The Flying Monkey itself only suffered minor smoke damage, but they’ll be closed for a few days to clean things up.

Here’s the scoop:

  • Fire started at nearby businesses on Main Street.
  • Firefighters from multiple towns arrived to tackle the flames.
  • One firefighter got a minor shoulder injury but is okay.
  • Cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Flying Monkey staff are being hailed as heroes for their quick action in getting everyone out safely. Big props to them! While the venue itself dodged a bullet, some neighboring businesses weren’t so lucky. The Flying Monkey says they’ll be there to support their community as they rebuild.
