Big cat scare! A cougar acting super bold was put down in an Oregon neighborhood after attacking a kitty and showing zero chill around humans.
Here’s the down-low:
- Cops got called about a cougar hanging out in a Ashland neighborhood (that’s near the California border) on April 18th. Apparently, this wasn’t your typical shy mountain lion.
- This cougar attacked a pet cat and showed signs of preying on other wildlife. Not cool, dude. Wildlife experts decided it posed a threat and needed to go.
- After an hour-long search, officers found the cougar lurking in a backyard – yikes, only 250 feet from an elementary school! For safety reasons, they had to take it down.
- Now, wildlife officials will examine the cougar to see what was up with its risky behavior.
What to do if you spot a cougar:
These big cats are usually shy, but it’s always good to be prepared. Here are some quick tips:
- Don’t be a BFF: Give them space, they don’t wanna be your friend.
- Hold your horses: Running can trigger their chase instinct. Not what you want! ♀️
- Stand tall: Channel your inner superhero and make eye contact.
- Protect the little ones: Keep young kids close and calm if a cougar approaches.
- Don’t play dead: Fight back with anything you can grab – rocks, sticks, your jacket – if a cougar attacks!
Stay safe out there!
