Authorities apprehended escaped convicted killer Danelo Cavalcante after a two-week manhunt. K9 units sniffed out Cavalcante hiding under leaves with a stolen rifle in Pennsylvania woods on October 5th.
As SWAT teams escorted him for questioning, blood dripped from a minor K9 bite wound. Officers removed his gray Eagles sweatshirt to search for weapons before photographing tattoos to verify identity.
It’s unclear how he obtained the sweatshirt after breaking into homes for food while evading over 400 officers. Gov. Josh Shapiro urged the sweatshirt’s owner to contact him. Residents received reverse 911 calls about the capture near a new perimeter.
Earlier, a homeowner reportedly fired shots at an intruder matching Cavalcante’s profile who stole a rifle. Helicopters searched that area for two days. On September 31st, Cavalcante escaped by scaling prison walls after sentencing for murdering his ex in 2021. An officer was fired for overlooking the observation tower.
