Convicted Killer Danelo Cavalcante Captured After Two-Week Manhunt_Danielo Cavalcante

Author­i­ties appre­hend­ed escaped con­vict­ed killer Dane­lo Cav­al­cante after a two-week man­hunt. K9 units sniffed out Cav­al­cante hid­ing under leaves with a stolen rifle in Penn­syl­va­nia woods on Octo­ber 5th. 

As SWAT teams escort­ed him for ques­tion­ing, blood dripped from a minor K9 bite wound. Offi­cers removed his gray Eagles sweat­shirt to search for weapons before pho­tograph­ing tat­toos to ver­i­fy identity. 

It’s unclear how he obtained the sweat­shirt after break­ing into homes for food while evad­ing over 400 offi­cers. Gov. Josh Shapiro urged the sweat­shirt’s own­er to con­tact him. Res­i­dents received reverse 911 calls about the cap­ture near a new perimeter. 

Ear­li­er, a home­own­er report­ed­ly fired shots at an intrud­er match­ing Cav­al­can­te’s pro­file who stole a rifle. Heli­copters searched that area for two days. On Sep­tem­ber 31st, Cav­al­cante escaped by scal­ing prison walls after sen­tenc­ing for mur­der­ing his ex in 2021. An offi­cer was fired for over­look­ing the obser­va­tion tower.
