Deadly Dog Attack Claims Life of Man in leigh

A man, 37, died after being bru­tal­ly bit­ten by a fierce dog in Leigh, Greater Man­ches­ter, in UK last night. The hor­ri­fy­ing inci­dent hap­pened around 9:10 pm on Thurs­day when police received a dis­tress call about a man being assault­ed by a men­ac­ing dog.

Emer­gency ser­vices and armed police offi­cers arrived at the scene in West­leigh Lane and dis­cov­ered the vic­tim with severe injuries. He was rushed to a near­by hos­pi­tal but sad­ly passed away in the ear­ly hours of Fri­day morning.

To pro­tect the pub­lic and stop the threat, armed offi­cers had to shoot and kill the hos­tile ani­mal that remained dan­ger­ous­ly unruly. A 24-year-old man sus­pect­ed to be the dog’s own­er was arrest­ed on charges of hav­ing a sav­age dog that caused fatal injury.

Detec­tive Super­in­ten­dent Simon Hurst said in a state­ment, “Our deep­est sym­pa­thies go out to the fam­i­ly and friends of the vic­tim. This is an unimag­in­ably trag­ic sit­u­a­tion and we are offer­ing sup­port to the fam­i­ly at this time. We want to reas­sure the com­mu­ni­ty that we took every mea­sure to con­trol the threat, though we under­stand this inci­dent will cause under­stand­able wor­ry. The local com­mu­ni­ty has been left stunned and upset by this ter­ri­ble tragedy. An inquiry remains under­way as police work to find out the exact details of what hap­pened that night. Our thoughts are with the fam­i­ly and loved ones of the victim.
