A seemingly trivial disagreement between neighbors in Costa Rica has taken a shocking turn, resulting in a deadly shooting.

On Monday morning, in the Rio Palma condominium complex located in Escazu, Eduardo Ramirez Zamora (53) fatally shot his neighbor, Otoniel Orozco Mendoza (53), following a heated argument over a shared water valve.

Surveillance footage captured the escalating conflict, which began as a verbal argument between the two couples and quickly turned physical.

Witnesses reported Zamora harboring long-standing resentment towards Mendoza, a Nicaraguan immigrant, due to petty issues. Despite past conflicts, authorities were unable to prevent the situation from reaching a violent conclusion.

The tragic incident unfolded around 7:00 am, leaving Mendoza deceased at the scene despite attempts by bystanders to render aid.

Zamora was apprehended shortly after and faces charges, including a three-month preventative detention while the investigation progresses.
