Louisiana Repub­li­cans are on a mis­sion to “reform” the state’s busi­ness envi­ron­ment — at the expense of child work­ers! 😮 State Rep. Roger Wilder, who owns smooth­ie fran­chis­es, is cham­pi­oning a pro­pos­al to scrap lunch break require­ments for child work­ers, claim­ing they’re “young adults.” 🤔 But let’s be real, they’re minors!

This isn’t an iso­lat­ed case. GOP pol­i­cy­mak­ers in 16 states have intro­duced bills to weak­en child labor laws, tar­get­ing age ver­i­fi­ca­tion, alco­hol ser­vice, and employ­er lia­bil­i­ty! 🔥 One group push­ing this agen­da is the Foun­da­tion for Gov­ern­ment Account­abil­i­ty, which wants to expand teenage labor and cut social safe­ty nets. 🤔

Why is this hap­pen­ing? 🤷️ Crit­ics argue these reforms pro­mote a “parental rights” agen­da, expand the work­force, and reduce reg­u­la­tions. But oppo­nents say it’s an attack on hard-fought pro­tec­tions for our youth. 😠
