An American Airlines Boeing 737 flight was forced to abort takeoff from Tampa International Airport on Wednesday after one of its wheels began to smoke and eventually burst into flames.

Footage of the incident, captured by a plane spotter, shows the aircraft gaining speed on the runway when the right tire suddenly starts smoking and then erupts in flames.

Passengers Evacuated, No Injuries Reported

The American Airlines Flight 590, which was set to depart for Phoenix, Arizona, had 174 passengers and 6 crew members on board at the time of the incident.

Emergency responders were quickly dispatched, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the plane and bused to the terminal. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

FAA Investigation Underway

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the wheel malfunction.

Airport operations at Tampa International were not significantly disrupted, and passengers were transferred to a replacement flight after the incident.
