In a shocking incident, a drunk Texas woman, Elizabeth Wolf, is accused of attempting to drown a random 3‑year-old Palestinian girl at an apartment complex pool in Euless, near Dallas. The violent attack, which has been described as a potential hate crime, has sparked outrage and calls for a thorough investigation.

According to the police report, the 42-year-old Wolf, who witnesses described as “very intoxicated,” approached the child’s hijab-wearing mother by the poolside and interrogated her about her origins.

She then allegedly jumped into the shallow end of the pool, where the little girl and her 6‑year-old brother were playing, and tried to grab them both.

While the boy was able to break free, Wolf is accused of dragging the 3‑year-old girl to the deeper end of the pool and repeatedly dunking her head underwater, attempting to drown her. The girl’s mother and another bystander quickly jumped in and were able to rescue the sputtering child, who was later cleared by medics at the scene.

The traumatized mother, identified only as Mrs. H, expressed her anguish, stating, “We are American citizens, originally from Palestine, and I don’t know where to go to feel safe with my kids. My country is facing a war, and we are facing that hate here.” She added that her daughter is now terrified, hiding whenever they leave their apartment.

The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called for state and federal authorities to investigate the incident as a hate crime. CAIR-Austin Operations Manager Shaimaa Zayan condemned the attack, saying, “We are seeing a new level of bigotry here where a person deeply believes they get to decide, based on religion, spoken language, and country of origin, whose kids deserve to stay alive and whose don’t.”

Wolf was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted capital murder, among other offenses. She was bailed out of jail the following day, a decision that has been criticized by CAIR, who called for a higher bail bond and an open conversation with officials to address the alarming rise in Islamophobia, anti-Arab, and anti-Palestinian sentiment.
