Tragic Loss of a Dedicated Public Servant

Texas state trooper Kevin Alexis Ramirez Vasquez, 25, has died after being struck by a vehicle while responding to an accident. Ramirez Vasquez had joined the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) in 2023 and was stationed in Odessa.

Lifetime of Service to Texas and the U.S.

Prior to becoming a state trooper, Ramirez Vasquez had served in the U.S. Army and was also a member of the National Guard. The department praised his “life of service” and commitment to protecting the people of Texas.

Tributes from TXDPS Leadership

TXDPS Director Steven McCraw expressed the profound loss of “one of our brothers in uniform,” stating that Ramirez Vasquez’s “commitment to keeping the roads safe, protecting the people of Texas and the sacrifice he made will never be forgotten.”

Legacy of a Young Hero

At just 25 years old, Ramirez Vasquez is survived by his parents and three siblings. He is the 241st TXDPS officer to die in the line of duty since 1823, underscoring the dangerous realities faced by those who dedicate their lives to public service.
