Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who has spearheaded the criminal case against former President Donald Trump in Georgia, received a campaign donation from a former Atlanta city attorney who was later convicted of a $15 million pandemic loan fraud scheme.

Shelitha Robertson, a 62-year-old Democrat who ran unsuccessfully for a Fulton County judgeship, donated $1,000 to Willis’s campaign around the time she fraudulently obtained millions in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. Robertson was subsequently sentenced to seven years in prison for the fraud.

This revelation raises questions about potential conflicts of interest in Willis’s high-profile prosecution of Trump. The case is already facing legal challenges over Willis’s past affair with another prosecutor on the team.

Robertson used some of her ill-gotten gains from the PPP scheme to purchase lavish items like a 10-carat diamond ring and a Rolls Royce. Yet she also funneled money to her campaign contribution to Willis, who went on to defeat her scandal-ridden predecessor as Fulton County DA.
