In a heartbreaking incident, a Florida firefighter, Shawn Yarbrough, killed his wife, Andrea Yarbrough, in a murder-suicide just weeks after she expressed concerns about his demanding work schedule on social media.

According to the news report, the couple had been married for about a year and had a blended family of four children. In a Facebook post on May 31st, Andrea had shared the monthly activity logs of her husband’s department, which showed 3,203 calls for service, indicating the grueling work schedule that left him “exhausted” and “never functioning 100% at home.”

On June 13th, police were called to the couple’s St. Augustine home after Andrea’s mother requested a welfare check when she couldn’t reach her. The investigation revealed that Andrea’s death was considered a homicide, while Shawn died by suicide, with both dying from gunshot wounds.

The tragedy has left Andrea’s family and the local community in shock. Her sister, Olivia Marvin, described her as a resilient fighter who always strived to do her best for her children and everyone around her. The St. Johns County Fire Rescue Chief, Sean McGee, also expressed profound sadness over the loss of life and the enduring impact on the families and children involved.
