Florida Landlord Arrested for Murder of Family, Allegedly Burned Bodies in Fire Pit

Hud­son, Flori­da — A hor­rif­ic crime has shak­en the qui­et com­mu­ni­ty of Hud­son, Flori­da. A local land­lord, Rory Atwood (25), has been arrest­ed and charged with the bru­tal mur­ders of a fam­i­ly of four. 

The vic­tims, Rain Manci­ni (26), Phillip Zil­liot II (25), and their chil­dren, Kar­ma (6) and Phillip III (5), were alleged­ly shot and then burned in a back­yard fire pit by Atwood in an attempt to con­ceal his crime.

Mancini’s moth­er report­ed the fam­i­ly miss­ing after days of failed con­tact. Police ini­tial­ly found no sign of foul play dur­ing a search of Atwood’s prop­er­ty, includ­ing the smol­der­ing fire pit. How­ev­er, a break­through came when a friend tipped off inves­ti­ga­tors about Atwood alleged­ly con­fess­ing to the murders.

Cadav­er dogs deployed dur­ing the sec­ond search locat­ed human remains with­in the fire pit, along with a strong chlo­rine scent on the patio, sug­gest­ing a delib­er­ate attempt to destroy evidence.

Con­flict­ing Confessions:

Atwood ini­tial­ly claimed evic­tion due to unpaid rent. How­ev­er, his lat­er alleged con­fes­sion detailed a strug­gle with the cou­ple, result­ing in their shoot­ing deaths. He fur­ther claimed the par­ents killed their own chil­dren, but lat­er admit­ted their bod­ies were found in the fire pit.

This sense­less tragedy has left the Hud­son com­mu­ni­ty reel­ing. Atwood remains in cus­tody with­out bond as the inves­ti­ga­tion con­tin­ues. Author­i­ties are work­ing to pos­i­tive­ly iden­ti­fy the remains and shed light on the har­row­ing details of the crime.
