Florida man arrested for possessing more than a ton of child pornography

An Ocala man was arrest­ed Thurs­day after thou­sands of pounds of child pornog­ra­phy were found at his home.

Paul Zit­ter, 72, was arrest­ed on 25 counts of pos­ses­sion of child pornography.

The Mar­i­on Coun­ty Sher­if­f’s Office (MCSO) said it received a call in Jan­u­ary that a file con­tain­ing child sex­u­al abuse mate­r­i­al was post­ed online.

As a result of the inves­ti­ga­tion, it turned out that the IP address belongs to Zittel.

A search war­rant was issued against his home.

A search of Zit­ter’s home said oth­er res­i­dents said he would­n’t allow any­one into his bed­room or office with­out being per­son­al­ly escorted.

Detec­tives found count­less pho­tographs depict­ing child sex­u­al abuse material.

MCSO esti­mates there are over 220,000 images that weigh about 2,600 pounds.

Accord­ing to MCSO, the pho­tos were placed in large piles and box­es through­out bed­rooms and offices.

The print­er on Git­tel’s desk showed signs of abuse. Inves­ti­ga­tors took pho­tographs, com­put­ers, and dig­i­tal stor­age devices.

He was tak­en to Mar­i­on Coun­ty Jail and is cur­rent­ly being held on $250,000 bail.
